Meath author, Katie McDermott has launched her new website designed by us here at Meath Web Design.

McDermott has had a number of short stories in publications such as Autonomy, Banshee Lit, The Queen’s Head and Literary Orphans, among others. Her stories have achieved much acclaim. Such as being longlisted for the RTE/Penguin Short Story competition. Not only this, but she was also longlisted for the Over the Edge New Writers competition. Currently she is writing her new book Micronation.

Her writing has a number avenues, examining characters in moments of crisis or panic to looking at people imprisoning themselves in their own lives. The themes she explores in her writing are that of identity and rebellion influenced by folklore and magic realism.

When looking for a website, Katie wanted something that would get her message across and show her to be a genuine write without falling into cliches. We had a look at what she wanted and decided a luscious, visual based website would be the best idea.

Creating a site that worked on both desktop and mobile is a must in this day and age. Creating a uniform and beautiful website on both can be tough to do. After much thinking a series of overlays was decided as the best route to explore.
